My Lake

My lake sits round-square,
rather small, but clear.
See it touch old forest,
my fish boat and pier.

So tangible is my lake.
She’s nothing quite abstract.
Like love, or life detached.
Like unsettled thoughts
on a worn path.

My lake sits round-square,
rather small, but clear.
See it comfort snap turtle,
lofty pine and deer.

So relaxing is my lake,
from love, and life detached.
From unsettled thoughts
on my worn path.
How she heals my emotions
forth and back.

My quite tangible lake!
She's small, but clear.
Her lilies are in bloom
this time of year.
