Limestone Reflections

Shore rocks glisten in the faint daylight.
Wet sands sparkle as my waves retreat.
      I daydream
      While the great lake whispers
      And the cedar bluffs
       Know her secrets.

Field stone borders hold up weathered barns.
Limestone fences circle homestead farms.
      I daydream
      While the great lake whispers
      And the molded earths
      Unfold with stories.

Wildlife graze before a woodland shield.
Cherry and apple watch from rowed fields.
      I daydream
      While the great lake whispers
      And the rolling landscapes
      Beg to be explored.

Land reserve and park straddle small towns.
Nature and man share a timeless ground.
      I daydream
      While the great lake whispers
      And the relic buildings
      Read as books.

Shore rocks glisten in the faint moonlight.
Wet sands sparkle as my waves retreat.
      Now I sleep
      While the great lake whispers
      And the Door tells me
      I am home.
