Mother's Day.
A Mother's Day that arrives before the usual tree blossom blooms.
For the weather has been cool to date.
I think of my mom. My spouse thinks of hers.
2 special moms we no longer see. Both now gone about 8 years past.
Spouse Rosie decides on a quiet event.
We breakfast together. Read our Sunday newspapers together.
Drink morning coffee together. With light Jazz on the TV channel.
Louder Jazz when daughter Anna enters and the dogs come alive.
I motor out of the house on a late morning errand.
Out and about to see dresses and skirts fill the aisles today.
To a Fleet Farm transformed with Mother's Day moms!
Moms standing in bunches to dodge around.
Making for fun flashback visions on my ride home.
Phone calls arrive from the daughters away.
Holly from a stop over on her way to Disney World.
Her pre-sent package sitting here for Rosie to enjoy.
Kate rings, but the call is missed. For I am too slow.
Then a beep beep is heard and a texted "Happy Mother's Day" keys in without my help.
Anna, in the house, has gifted Rosie with both package and card.
Now Rosie's day is getting complete-er by the minute!
With daughter conversations now complete, Rosie dons her 3/4 long pants on this 3/4 warm day.
She motions for me to follow outdoors where my task to be is camera duty.
One snap, a zoom, another snap, and my chore is done.
Rosie's Mother's Day photos show her 'round her just planted plants.
When back in the house, Anna and I notice an outdoors commotion.
Rosie has a broom. It is a "waving and shoo-shoo-ing birdies away" broom.
Seems swallow intruders have chosen the wrong house.
These parents-to-be, didn't figure it out.
Why a swallow can't live in Rosie's bluebird house.
Outside I go. To move bluebird house closer.
A little closer to Rosie now put-away broom.
Later and later this Mother's Day gets.
We now pack our lunches for a Monday's start.
And we bid good bye to Rosie's Mother's Day event!
